There are four main lines of research at the GEMM:
Computational Biomechanics:
Includes research on hard and soft tissues biomechanics
Numerical Methods:
Finite element, boundary element and meshless methods constitute the main objective of this field of research.
Fatigue and damage simulations:
Multiaxial fatigue simulations, cumulative damage predictions,...
Simulation of Forming processes:
Forming processes: extrusion, cutting, simulations of mould filling,... mainly based on the use of finite elements and meshless methods.
Recently, we have been working in the numerical simulation of laser surface coating processes.
