Joint project of the Solar Heating and Cooling program and the Energy Conservation & Energy Storage mission of the International Energy Agency that addresses the study and development of advanced materials for the thermal storage of energy with phase change materials and / or materials with characteristics thermochemicals.
The project specifically addresses:
- Properties of materials taking into account their behavior on a molecular and macroscopic scale, including material synthesis, micro-scale mass transport and sorption reactions
- Behavior of materials within the storage system, including transport of thermal energy, mass and vapor, wall-wall and wall-material interactions and reactor design
- Implementation and integration of the storage system in the heating and cooling system including feasibility studies, case studies and trials
The GITSE group leads the subtask of components for the storage of thermal energy using phase change materials (PCM).
This project is coordinated by AEE-INTEC (Austria) and has the participation of experts from Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Slovenia, Turkey and Sweden.
This project is the continuation of the project started in January 2009 with the joint project Task42-Annex29, having created a stable international group of collaboration during all this time in the field of thermal energy storage.
